Heh, I often had fun with this build:

[skill]Tainted Flesh[/skill] [skill]Rotting Flesh[/skill] [skill]Symbiosis[/skill] [skill]Edge of Extinction[/skill] [skill]Death Nova[/skill] [skill]Gaze of Contempt[/skill] or [skill]Strip Enchantment[/skill] [skill]Resurrection Signet[/skill]

I think I used [skill]Putrid Explosion[/skill] for the last skill but maybe Withering Aura might be a good choice now.

hmm ok you dont actually have to use ranger skills..
running skills blocking skills natural spring and winowing was menitoned all good points
however I would avoid putting most of your skills into ranger attributes
unless you want to go beast master and use barbs, mark of pain, atrophy, order of pain, order of apostasy, tainted flesh and the like also giving your curses a given target.
That gives you some input even in a full party with something along the lines of symbiotic bond and soul feast and
means your pet can be quite a tank if you can take a few on the chin.
You can send the pet in as a leader to your minions using dark bond to soak up some of that redirected fury.
Personally it might seem like a silly idea and in high level areas it might be but while your in lions arch try some crazy stuff as you might not get the chance the same opportunity in the ring of fire.
Its not optimal build but no need to throw your hard work away because your not keen on your secondary you do have plenty of options and you main strength will often lie in your primary attributes.

I've tried beast master builds using barbs, mark of pain, and a few other curses. They kind of suck by themselves, but they can be really good if you already have an MM in the party. You can load a few curses on your bar and have a pet as an extra tank and barbs trigger.

They can also be usefull in a party full of physicals, although I doubt it would be any more effective than just runing pure curses in such a case.

perhaps order of pain with barrage might be workable if you can use pvp/preist of balthazar and buy a tome in la to unlock the required skills.

True. I think Ebon Vanguard Assassin Support kinda beats Pets at this role.
